There are a few easy ways to Leave a Legacy
ABOUT BEQUESTS
Include Us in Your Will or Living Trust (Bequest)
A bequest is a gift made through your will or trust. It is one of the most common and flexible ways that you can support our mission and community.
Add as little as one sentence (often referred to as “bequest language”) to your will or living trust saying that you want to support us. You can do this either through your estate planning attorney or the will-planning software/app you used. You can give a specific amount of cash or securities, a piece of property or a percentage of your estate.
notify us of your plans
If you have already included Minds Matter Colorado in your estate plans, please notify us by contacting Alex Goldberg, Director of Development at alex@mindsmatterco.org
Making a qualified charitable distribution (QCD)
IRA Charitable Rollover
An IRA rollover allows people age 70½ and older to reduce their taxable income by making a gift directly from their IRA.
You may be looking for a way to make a big difference to help further Minds Matter Colorado’s mission. If you are 70½ or older, you may also be interested in a way to lower the income and taxes from your IRA withdrawals. An IRA charitable rollover is a way you can help continue our work and benefit this year.
- Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA to Minds Matter Colorado
- Your IRA funds will be directly transferred to our organization to help continue our important work
- Please note that IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction
- Please contact Alex Goldberg at alex@mindsmatterco.org if you wish for your gift to be used for a specific purpose
Gifts from your IRA
If you are 70½ or older, you can use your IRA to fulfill your charitable goals. Contact your IRA custodian to make a qualified charitable distribution. We will acknowledge your generous gifts as a qualified charitable distribution, which may satisfy your RMD, if applicable.
Additional Assets
Beneficiary Designations
Name Minds Matter Colorado as a Beneficiary of a Retirement Account, Life Insurance Policy or Commercial Annuity.
Donating part or all of your unused retirement assets, such as your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), pension, or other tax-deferred plan, is an excellent way to make a gift to Minds Matter Colorado.
If you are like most people, you probably will not use all of your retirement assets during your lifetime. You can make a gift of your unused retirement assets to help further our mission.
To leave your retirement assets to Minds Matter Colorado, you will need to complete a beneficiary designation form provided by your retirement plan custodian. If you designate Minds Matter Colorado as beneficiary, we will benefit from the full value of your gift because your retirement assets will not be taxed at your death. Your estate will benefit from an estate tax charitable deduction for the gift.
